By nature, individuals seek a sense of belonging, love, and respect, often expected from their families, friends, or acquaintances. When the feeling of loneliness prolongs, one enters psychological mazes that require effort to overcome.
Have we ever considered that the nature of one’s relationship with his Creator determines the extent of his sense of solitude?
When a person realizes that Allah is present in every moment of his life, as mentioned in the Quran: {And He is with you wherever you are’ (Surah Al-Hadid, Verse 4), and that Allah is closer to them than their jugular vein, as stated, ‘We are nearer to him than his jugular vein} (Surah Qaf, Verse 16).
When a person acknowledges that Allah is the All-Hearing and the Responsive, as stated: {And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me} (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 186).
When an individual realizes that Allah is the Living, the Sustainer of existence, as mentioned: {Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep} (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 255), meaning that Allah does not overlook His creations by sleep or drowsiness.
When a person understands that getting near to Allah through any form of obedience, even if it is minimal, results in Allah getting near to him even more. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) narrated in a divine hadith in which Allah says:{I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I remember him in Myself. If he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a better gathering. If he draws near to Me by a hand’s inch, I draw near to him by an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running}.
When an individual comprehends that every aspect of his life, from beginning to end, is in the hands of Allah.
When a person realizes that Allah never fades away, nor will He ever be absent from him, and that the journey towards Him, no matter how long one’s life may be, remains significant.
When an individual knows that closeness to Allah brings tranquility and happiness that surpasses the worldly pleasures.
And when a person understands that seeking proximity to Allah heals pains and wounds…
When a person recognizes that closeness to Allah renders him independent of all others.
So, tell me, how will you feel lonely?
